There's a party & you're invited
The practice of *letting go*.
I cut the second planter I made in half to see if I had throw it well!
I was really happy with the evenness of the walls, although a little thick, I felt pretty good about it!
Excited to keep improving my big planters. 😍

Did I freak myself out thinking I could drop and completely destroy this planter at any moment?
Yes, yes I did.
Did I trim it anyway?
Absolutely!
WE CAN DO HARD THINGS! 👏🏼

Volume up for the vast array of emotions I went through while throwing this piece 😂🔊
The only thing holding you back is your limiting beliefs ⬇️
I’m super guilty of letting my beliefs hold me back.
I’ve been throwing pottery on the wheel for almost two years.
I often watch videos online of people throwing big pieces, amazed by their ability.
It makes me so happy for them that they have the skill and practice to throw these amazing pieces.
I automatically believed that I didn’t have enough experience to throw pieces that big.
I convinced myself without trying and let my limiting beliefs keep me from pushing myself.
I thought I couldn’t do it… had I tried?
Nope.
Until I decided to overcome my limiting beliefs.
I did it. I tried. I succeeded.
I felt brave and excited to push myself and achieve something new.
If I hadn’t built a limiting belief and listened to it, I might’ve been throwing this big for a long time.
I’m here now, and I'm working on building a new version of myself that dismisses limiting beliefs and replaces them with possibility.
Be bold, my friend. Try the things you are scared of.
Believe in yourself and push yourself; the growth on the other side is unimaginably wonderful. 💖

I saw a co-worker today who was wearing a gorgeous, bright, flower pattern dress.
While catching up with her, she told me she always felt weird about wearing bright colors because everyone is usually in dark blazers as professional attire but she loves colorful outfits.
I resonated with her because (even though I went through a punk rock phase in middle school 🤘🏼) I always gravitate towards wearing bright colors. I LOVE color!
It used to make me self conscious. Now, I try to push myself to make my outfits even more colorful.
I love living a colorful life. I love encouraging people to shine like their true selves.
I hope you remember that the world loves to see your light. 💖🥹

I lost all my hard-earned pottery hand strength in the month I didn’t throw.
Sometimes life sets you back a little, and that’s okay. 🥹
I will be playing on the wheel more this year and building my hand strength again.
Until then, I will be making a lot of mugs. 😂

In fifth grade I walked into class (I was still learning to speak English and was desperately looking to make friends while living in the U.S. for the first time) and I see the bright smiling face of an adorable girl wearing a @jessemccartney shirt.
I instantly fell in love with her and knew we would be friends. Little did it know, she was also Venezuelan, new to the U.S. and she lived in the neighborhood right next to mine.
The universe has a funny way of giving you exactly what you need exactly when you need it. 🦋
Fast forward 20ish years, that same wonderful girl is one of my life long friends.
This year, we got to celebrate @mimamendoza1 and her soulmate when they tied the knot, it was such a special day.
Mima is a very special person, one of the best people / friends I’ve ever met, and I wanted to gift her something close to my heart.
I practiced a lot to make this mug and had so many versions of it along the way until I finally made one that was good enough to show Mima how much she means to me.
I made Brian one too but his didn’t turn out as well. 😂
Pottery has a way of making the ordinary so special, I’m so happy to get to create something meaningful for two very special people.
Mima, I adore you, thank you for being a ray of light to everyone who has the honor of meeting you.
I wish you a lifetime of happiness, love, joy, and adventure. 💖
P.s. I may try to make you a better version of this mug because I still don’t feel like it’s good enough to show you how much you mean to me 💖💖💖💖

I’m sooooo happy to be back on the wheel! 🥹💖
It has been over a MONTH and YES I left my studio in absolute shambles last time I threw.
I do not like leaving my wheel dirty but life is just life sometimes!
I’m so excited to work on some projects I’ve been thinking up.
I hope you are having a super fun and creative week. 💖

I always wonder if my grandma would be proud of me for throwing pottery.
My whole life, she was my guardian angel. She spent her time looking out for me and showing me how many creative things I could do.
When she visited from Venezuela, she spent her summers painting planters for me. If she was back home, she would take as many community courses as she could to learn more crafts.
Whether it was knitting, crocheting, or making little jewelry boxes, she always created from a place of love and joy.
I like to think that my creative practices flourish because my passion for the arts is rooted in my love for her.
It’s so cool when someone supports your creativity. 💖
I miss her every day, but when I pick up a piece of clay or a paintbrush, I feel like I’m honoring her somehow.
P.s. I'm SO HAPPY to be back on my wheel 🥹💖

I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to be a speaker today at the #SCHA24 Diversity and Inclusion conference.
I’ll be speaking about how to build connections through social media!
We are staying across the street from the water and I HAD TO force myself to wake up early to enjoy the morning with Mother Ocean.
My swim was everything I could ask for! The water was crisp and crystal clear and I can’t think of a better way to start my day.
I feel so much vitality and life when I’m connected to the ocean. 🌊
I’m so excited for the day ahead and thrilled to be able to share my knowledge with others. 💖

Woke up in Vegas ✨
Remember when you were afraid of what you’ve overcome?
I know one thing I was fearful of, which seems silly now, is sharing my art with people outside of my art world. Opening up and sharing my art on social media, with my co-worries (whoops I meant co-workers haha), or my friends.
Mainly, I was afraid they would think that I wasn’t good enough. Whatever “good enough” means.
Instead, I experienced the opposite. It’s a great conversation topic and I’ve received so much positive reinforcement and feedback.
Sometimes the things we’re afraid of are the ones we need to overcome the most. 🥹
Do you have an example?

The best part of being in my 30s is that I’ve learned to set boundaries!
I don’t want to do something? I don’t do it.
I have to stop talking to negative people, I stop.
There are things in my life that aren’t serving me, just like pottery, I trim them off.
There is too much noise, I turn it down.
I choose myself.
Building boundaries and prioritizing myself has changed my life.
I think my 30s are my best years yet. 💖

Today I was thinking about self confidence. 🌻
Why is it so hard for most adults to be confident?
How do we grow up believing that we are not good enough, beautiful enough, smart enough?
There is a massive gap in our society.
As I’m learning to love myself the same way I love the most important relationships In my life, I realize, that none of us should be asked to dim our light. ✨
Why set ourselves aside for others when we can love them so much better when we love ourselves?
It’s fulfilling to look in the mirror and love the person you see.
I hope you know that you are special, loved, smart, beautiful, kind, and wonderful. And you are loved. 💖

I put a poll in the comments so you can tell me which one you liked the most! ✨
First of all, @rypiesandwich24 got me a content mic for Christmas so get ready for lots more talking videos 😂
Pottery is like a great surprise every time I pick up from the kiln because even if I plan every component, the temperature in the kiln goes up to 2200F.
With the heat and the chemical reactions, pieces can change a lot!
Glazes change colors, drip, and move. Some pieces warp or crack. It can be a game of chance!
It's so much fun to pick up the pieces and see how they transformed.
Which ones your favorite?
I just read a quote that said:
“Never admire quietly, give people their flowers while they are here”.
Wow.
It resonated with me because one of my life mottos is “if you have a compliment for someone, don’t keep it to yourself”. However they take it is up to them, I have flowers for you, what you choose to do with them is up to you. ❤️
The thought of sharing a kind compliment, a loving hug, an admiration for someone that expresses to them how amazing they are is so sweet to me.
I love the idea of helping people feel good about themselves and admiring their light. 🥹❤️

Here’s the truth:
I LOVE getting older. 😍
When I was younger, I always feared it. I wasn’t ready to leave “the best years of my life” behind. Even as a kid, I thought I would miss childhood.
Today, we went to the park with some of my best friends who have little babies of their own.
It was a different type of outing than we’re used to and it was so much!
I realize that every year, my life just keeps getting better.
Every year is the best year of my life (the hard years have made me who I am today).
The phases of life change but the joy, happiness, and fulfillment just keeps growing. The more people (babies) we add to our family of friends the more my heart expands.
The deeper the conversations, the more I can support friends in a different way. The stronger the bonds.
Life can be challenging but as I focus on getting better/ happier/ healthier/ more balanced, the more I feel fulfilled and like the best version of myself. ✨
I’m grateful for every minute of this wonderful life and the people I get to spend it with. ❤️
I had a big realization yesterday. 🥹
I’m entering my favorite era in life so far.
There’s an unwavering optimism I feel in my chest. My unhinged spark.
An appreciation for who I am as a person and as a woman that I’ve been working on building my whole life.
I truly value myself. I wake up, and I’m grateful to be in my body, to have my mind. To be who I am. I wholeheartedly love myself.
When I look at my reflection, I’m so happy to be me. I see her, I understand her, I adore and worship her.
Growing into my power has been such a gift, and I truly feel unstoppable.
Pottery has helped me get here, and I’m excited about the future. ✨

I threw a 6.3lb vase today.
I can’t believe it.
I’m in awe.
I love pottery because it’s really hard lol.
When you start out it’s tough to even throw a little cup together.
Now, I can visibly see my progress and improvement.
It gives me so much confidence to fail and learn.
I love talking to friends about pottery, how mesmerizing it is, the feeling of freedom and balance it gives me.
2024 is going to be a big pottery year for me, I feel like I finally found my pottery wings.
Thank you for being here for this journey, I’m so grateful!
Finding creative outlets can feel overwhelming.
We see amazing artists all over social media, and often feel intimidated thinking that we can create something similar.
Creativity comes in many different forms, here are some ways that have helped me bring back my creative spark:
1. Creative journaling: I started journaling using water colors. Painting what I felt in a place that was just for me helped me tremendously. It got my creativity going and helped me heal from things that I was going through. It can be pretty inexpensive and a great way to start a creative journey. Just paint what you’re feeling.
2. Do an art challenge: I love challenging myself to create. Sometimes I’ll challenge myself to draw every day for 30 days or to do something creative daily. It’s a great way to challenge yourself and, like anything, the more you practice the easier it gets!
3. Take a class: When I felt truly stuck in my creative work I pushed myself to get out of my own head and I took a class. This is a great way to be around other creative people, learn new skills, and have a guide in the creative process.
I’m so excited for my creative journey in 2024 I can wait to create even more this year! ✨

I threw this knitting bowl in September for my mom’s Christmas present….. she loved it!
My mom’s favorite hobby is knitting baby sweaters. I would see her walking around the house, carrying her yarn and needles in a plastic bag. Not on my watch!
I tried many different versions of this bowl and fell in love with this one. That’s why I love pottery, because I can make functional art that everyone can use.
I especially love making items for other creatives, it’s so fun to add to someone’s ritual for creating / craft.
Do you have a fun hobby that could use a specially made pottery piece? Let me know ⬇️

Creativity is not just for artists!
I think that we are all born creative.
If you look at a kindergarten class, almost all students will be excited to draw, paint, play with color, and create.
When we get older, we lose sight of that, and creativity becomes something we feel distant from.
That’s why it’s important to CREATE and let your creativity FLOW.
Here is why it’s so important:
1. Creating is a HUGE energy release. It helps you move pent up energy and gives you lots of endorphins.
2. It carries over to other areas of your life. You can often find answers to complex life problems and even feed your “out of the box thinking” skills while creating.
3. It turns your brain off. This may be the most important! When you go into creative “flow” your brain turns off and you’re free from thought. Time flies by and you are truly living in the moment.
The best part is, you don’t need expensive tools to be creative! You can find so many different ways to create with things you already have a home.
I hope this inspires you to start your creative journey. 🪩

I love connecting with friends during the holidays, I got to have many conversations about pottery. 🪩
Many people I spoke to LOVE the idea of trying pottery but they don’t know how to get started.
Here are three ways to get started with wheel throwing:
1. Find a class at a pottery studio. This is how I got started, I took a few classes at @bocaartschool and became obsessed. The downside is that classes at studios can be pretty pricey for a 4 week session and with just 1 class a week I couldn’t get the wheel time I craved.
2. Look for community classes. Our city used to offer community classes that were way more affordable and they would be hosted at the local middle school. This is a great option to try out pottery for the first time!
3. Look for a 1 day workshop to see how if you enjoy the process. There are a few studios in South Florida that offer 1 day beginner workshops. This is a great option to do with your loved ones.
Do you have questions about starting your pottery journey? Leave them below and I’ll do my best to answer them! ✨

I get a ton of questions about where I get the bananas I put on my hair and I literally can not take any of the credit.
My amazing sister @lo_mones is a fashion designer and vintage curator and I’m the lucky recipient of her findings.
I’m so grateful for her making me so much cooler than I actually am! 🪩
Getting into the holiday spirit by cleaning 😍❤️
My wheel has been a mess; I didn’t clean it the last few times I used it.
For some reason, a dirty wheel bugs me.
I like to clean after every throwing session so when I sit down at the wheel, it’s fresh and ready for new ideas.
I’ve had to let go of perfection; it kept me from creating because I wanted enough time to make art AND clean.
Sometimes, you only have time to create. Let the mess stay. Take advantage of the time to bring something to life and worry about the mess later. ❤️
How are you getting in the holiday spirit?

Thank you to the amazing @lauriefinkelsteinreader for placing this custom order.
It was a true gift to create these mugs for Laurie and her team. I got to see everyone’s faces when they opened their gifts (with the mugs) and it was such a joy to see their reactions. 🥹❤️
Feeling so grateful for a supportive network and for getting to share my pottery with the people I value ❤️
A very special person in my life asked me to create 17 mugs for her for the holidays.
I immediately said yes, even though this would be the largest order I’ve ever taken.
I challenged myself to throw the mugs in the same shape/ size and to throw them in ONE sitting.
My hands were raw, my back was aching, but I DID IT.
We are so much stronger than we think we are.
We can do hard things.
We are limitless.
I can’t wait to show you how the mugs came out this week. ❤️
I’ve been busy here!
Throwing so many pieces for a large client order and experimenting on some fun pieces.

She was so full of hope 😂😂😂
I have a big mug order that I’m SO EXCITED about.
I’ve been working on prototypes but with the deadline quickly approaching I had to get to WORK!
I challenged myself to throw 10 mugs in one sitting, something I’ve never done.
Another fun thing I’ve never done is throw the same shape repeatedly so this is a big double challenge for me lol.
How many mugs do you think I threw in one sitting? Did I reach my goal?
Let me know your guesses in the comments ⬇️
My mugs have come a long way!
With the holidays, I’ve received a lot of mug orders! I have to say, I’m enjoying the challenge of making a better mug every time.
Im finally getting to play with shapes and colors, although I don’t think I will ever enjoy adding a handle lol
What’s your favorite mug that you own? ☕️
I’m becoming genuinely really proud of my work. 🥹
I found this sweet live from a picture I took today, the pride I feel from making good forms on the wheel is unmatched.
Working consistently at pottery is the only way I’ve been able to improve drastically. It has taken a lot of elbow grease.
I didn’t give up, if anything, I worked even harder and more often.
I’m lucky to have a supportive husband who goes above and beyond to make sure I get studio time.
I can’t wait to see where my pottery journey takes me but for now, I’m just along for the ride. 🚗

There is so much to learn in pottery and that’s what I love about it!
I absolutely loved this sweet studio but for some reason, I work better at home. There are so many interesting distractions in an upbeat studio, everything takes me twice as long.

Learn from my mistakes! 😂
1. Don’t limit yourself! Pottery is about practice! It’s hard to see a lot of improvement with just one class, try to find an inexpensive studio (sometimes community studios are accessible) where you can throw often. The only way to get better is with practice.
2. Don’t buy a ton of different clays/ tools / glazes when you start out! You don’t know what you like yet, if you make a big investment upfront you may figure out that you don’t like certain tools/ clay bodies. Save your money for when you know better what you like to create with!
3. Don’t be shy! Pottery is about community. I wasted a lot of time trying to learn by myself. The truth is, pottery is about community! People will be happy to help you by answering questions or teaching you things that work better. Don’t hesitate to reach out! Even creators on Instagram can be very welcoming. Also, share your art with your network (post on Instagram) at every stage! It’s a great way to build connections.
Going on my pottery journey has been one of the best things I’ve done for myself. It has taught me to be bold, present, and to focus on creating.

I’ve learned LIFE CHANGING lessons from pottery ⬇️
1. Failing is just a door to building something better.
2. The more you fail the more practice you get and the better you become.
3. Failing is just an opportunity to start again.
Notice a commonality?
Pottery has taught me to get really good at failing. It’s taught me to be comfortable with starting over and letting go. I use these lessons in life, work, relationships and they have changed the game for me.
Failing is the path to success. ❤️

✨This reel is not about pottery ✨
It’s about something very hard for me to share but I felt that it’s necessary for me to be truly myself on this account.
I almost didn’t post this reel, even though I love the piece I made, let me explain why.
Today, I bought this dress. I love it and I was so excited to make pottery with it.
It put me out of my confront zone because I don’t often show my arms when I’m throwing.
I’ve been on a year-long health journey, but before that, I had many undiagnosed allergies and unhealed traumas that led me to have an unhealthy relationship with food.
Almost a year ago, I got the help I needed spiritually, mentally, and medically and I’m on the road to healing.
My health journey has been challenging but life-changing. I had to change all of my habits physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
I feel beautiful, inside and out, and I’m trying to wear more clothes that help me reflect that, even if they put me out of my comfort zone.
I love my body and the amazing things it’s got me through.
I feel better than ever. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and I have massive goals for how far I’m going to go.
Pottery has been a huge part of my healing journey and it feels so right connecting the two.
Having unconditional love for oneself is not always easy but damn it’s worth it. ❤️

Learn from my mistakes 😂😂😂
1. Do not rush into buying tools!!! Pottery can get really expensive and there are thousands of cool tools you can get for your pottery practice. Wait until you’ve thrown for 4+ months to choose what tools you want to invest in.
2. Avoid buying cheap tools off Amazon. Although it’s tempting (I still use my cheap tools) these tools will hurt you more than they will help you. I just threw out 5 footer tools that came in a set, they were dangerously sharp. It’s better to wait and buy professional tools when you can or tools from a pottery store.
3. Stay patient and practice. Pottery takes TIME and PRACTICE! It’s not possible to be great over night. Pottery takes repetition and experimentation. Learning and growing takes TIME! Be patient and stay with with ❤️

Yesterday my husband and I watched a video with video game developers explaining that video games are a success because when they are played, they invite the player to learn and grow. People are passionate to keep growing.
In a video game, he explained, players know that they are going to fail but they are just enjoying the process of learning and getting a little bit further every time.
I felt that.
That’s what pottery teaches me. That every time I throw, I will inevitably fail, but most importantly, I will have learned a lot in the process.
It’s fun and rewarding!

A few years ago, I saw a knitting influencer using a knitting bowl on Instagram. I was mesmerized, I thought it was the coolest tool ever.
I wanted to make some but I didn’t know how. 🙃
I somehow found my way to pottery the same time my mom started knitting again. It was meant to be.
Since I started throwing I’ve been practicing big bowls so I can make my mom her very own knitting bowl. I’ve tossed 20+ bowls in the processed and reclaim them. 🪣
Then I threw this piece and I knew it was just right! I’m so excited to fire it, it’s supposed to be my moms Christmas present but I don’t think I can hold my excitement!
Life has a funny way of coming back around to the things that give it meaning.
I’ll try to detach myself from this piece a little bit because it still has a whole kiln firing to get through and (as we know too well) anything can happen in the kiln.
I’m thinking of making some more knitting bowls for my Etsy shop in time for the holidays, what do you think? 🦋
P.s. Mom, if you suddenly decided to start using Instagram over night and randomly saw this post, no you didn’t. ❤️

This is how I made my favorite tumbler ever ⬇️
The lovely @camila_rivera ordered this custom tumbler as a gift for the amazing @lauriefinkelsteinreader and I was so excited to bring this vision to life!
I started with a 3lb ball of clay on the wheel, got it centered and then re-centered lol ✨
Once it was leather hard I added my new favorite letters, fired it in the kiln and then it was time to glaze!
I glazed it with snow and lavender on the letters and I’m totally obsessed!
It may be one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever made. 😍
So grateful for supportive friends 💕
Step 1 of throwing: make all the clay balls 🥲

Made a tumbler today and had so much fun!
I’ve been pretty hard on myself lately and I haven’t made time for my creative practice— it definitely took a toll on to mental health.
This week I’m commiting to 2 days in the studio— I’m so excited!
What does self care look like for you? ☀️

There is something so freeing about letting go and surrendering to what is.
We spend so much time thinking, holding on, wanting to change things.
Living for the future or clinging to the past like our life depended on it.
We take every breath with a tightness in our chest. Anxiety over what we have to get done, where we’re going, where we want to be.
Our mind tricks us to judge ourselves in the mirror. To think we are not good enough. It tricks us to be our own worst critic, to cling to every negative thought someone has had about us. To live in worry and fear.
We’re taught to change ourselves to fit other people’s perspectives of who we should be. What we should do for work. Who we should marry. How many children we should have. What our bodies should look like.
What if we just let go? Surrender?
What if instead of tearing ourselves down we become our own biggest cheerleaders?
How freeing would it be to look in the mirror and see a person you adore, fully, every wrinkle and every white hair. Every pound.
What if we free ourselves from thinking all of the time, tiring our minds with unnecessary burdens that either haven’t happened yet or don’t exist anymore?
What if we savored every second of the present? And truly lived every moment. Felt every breath. Listening to our bodies. Held only our current emotions and solved every problem as it presented itself.
What would happened if we each believed in our potential to be anyone we want to be?
How nice would it be to wake up, take care of our bodies, live truly in the moment? See the butterflies flutter by. Feel the sun on our faces, the air as it touches everything around us.
What if we LOVED ourselves? For every amazing part of us and every single “flaw”.
How would we feel if we knew that what makes us different makes us extraordinary?
It’s our choice. We are in control, fully and completely, of our minds.
I choose freedom, I choose love, I choose to surrender. ❤️
What do I use these tiny vases for?
Yes, I do leave my husband homegrown, hand cut, flower bouquets on his nightstand.
Yes, they make great pen holders and look amazing on a desk. 🌸
Yes, they can act as a catch all/ coin jar.
Those are all great!
However, my favorite way to use them is to keep our leafy vegetables fresher for longer!
That’s right! 🥬
When you buy herbs, green onions, leeks, whole kale, or any vegetable with a stock.. you can keep them fresh by putting them in water in your fridge!
It’s an AMAZING trick!
The water keeps the vegetables nice and crispy for a few more days.
These little vases are the perfect size to keep vegetables in the fridge. As if that wasn’t amazing enough, they also make me smile every time I go into the fridge.
What a wonderful life! 🤩
